The whole world is in a state of panic about the novel coronavirus, COVID-19. According to Johns Hopkins University & Medicine, as at Monday, 23 March, a total of 362,019 cases of the virus had been confirmed worldwide, resulting in 15,495 deaths. And with the virus racing across the planet, that number is sure to increase dramatically in the coming weeks.
As we are all aware, there is no cure or treatment for COVID-19, and experts have warned that a vaccine won’t be rolled out for at least 18 months – and vaccines are by no means 100 percent effective or safe anyway.
The best chance every single one of us has of survival, therefore, is a super strong immune system capable of fighting off the disease.
Most people know about immune boosters like garlic, zinc and vitamin C, and as such, these products have been flying off shelves across the world. In fact, in many places it has become almost impossible for consumers to get their hands on any of the more well-known immune strengtheners.
Fortunately, Mother Nature has many secrets in her arsenal, and there are powerful immune boosters that are still available, and which have a proven track record of helping people to fight off respiratory infections.
One of these is Cubeb pepper (Piper cubeba), the lesser-known cousin of that culinary favorite, black pepper.
Cubeb pepper has been a fixture of Ayurvedic and Chinese medicines for thousands of years in the treatment of a wide variety of health conditions, including diarrhea, stomach pain, urogenital diseases, enteritis, syphilis, gonorrhea, dysentery, and even asthma.
Natural News previously reported:
What makes this particular pepper such a health powerhouse is its active ingredient, a compound called hinokinin. Hinokinin is a lignan, or secondary metabolite, that the plant produces, and it is considered a very potent phytonutrient.
Hinokinin is capable of reducing inflammation and pain and is being investigated for its antimycobacterial effects, which could make it suitable as a natural way to treat the lung disease tuberculosis. …
Hinokinin has also shown significant antiviral activity against viruses like HIV, hepatitis B, and SARS coronavirus, so it may even end up proving helpful in boosting respiratory defenses in the world right now.
In fact, cubeb pepper has long been used for respiratory symptoms because of its ability to dissolve mucus. In addition to treating a nagging cough and mild bronchitis, it can help a host of other respiratory problems.
These properties offer exciting possibilities in terms of boosting immunity and helping the body to fight off the coronavirus. (Related: Cubeb Pepper has incredible health benefits and is used in Ayurvedic medicine to treat respiratory illness.)
Consuming Cubeb pepper daily is as simple as creating your own delicious spice mix. Great British Chefs provides a simple recipe for creating such a mix, noting that although this pepper has a slightly bitter aftertaste, its flavor profile changes, losing the bitterness and becoming more rounded with notes of nutmeg and cardamom when baked.
Ingredients:
½ tbsp Cubeb pepper
½ tbsp ginger
½ tbsp ground nutmeg
½ tbsp ground cloves
Method:
This tasty spice mix can be added to curries, stews, soups and many other delicious meals. The coronavirus is racing across the planet at a terrifying rate. Stay up-to-date with all the latest news at Pandemic.news.
